Salvation: How To by ExaltGod Salvation: How To by ExaltGod
Realize you are a sinner, and that this separates you from God, who is perfectly righteous:

Romans 3:23
"For all have sinned,
and come short of the glory of God;"

Romans 3:10-12
"as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
there is none that understandeth,
there is none that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way,
they are together become unprofitable;
there is none that doeth good, no, not one."

Habakkuk 1:12-13
"Art thou not from everlasting,
O Lord my God, mine Holy One?
we shall not die.
O Lord, thou hast ordained them for judgment;
and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil,
and canst not look on iniquity:
wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously,
and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?"

Psalm 145:17
"The Lord is righteous in all his ways,
and holy in all his works."

Because God is 100% just and 100% righteous, He must punish sin.

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death..."

Amos 2:4
"Thus saith the Lord;
For three transgressions of Judah,
and for four,
I will not turn away the punishment thereof;
because they have despised the law of the Lord,
and have not kept his commandments,
and their lies caused them to err,
after the which their fathers have walked:"

All sin will be punished:

*either through Jesus' death on the cross
*or by you going to Hell

John 3:36
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life:
and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life;
but the wrath of God abideth on him."

How did Jesus' death on the cross pay for our sins?

The wrath of God the Father Himself was poured our onto the body of Jesus, which held our sins.

The physical, bloody death of Jesus was required for the price to be paid:

Ephesians 1:7
"[JESUS CHRIST], in whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"

The other thing that was required for the price to be paid was that Jesus took God's full wrath towards sin on Himself:
God the Father's wrath towards sin was poured out on Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 53:10
"Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him;
he hath put him to grief:
when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin..."

1 Peter 2:24
"[Jesus Christ], who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree..."

Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died to take the punishment for your sins, and that He then rose from the dead 3 days later:

Romans 5:8
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 4:22-25
"And therefore it [faith] was imputed to him for righteousness.
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."

Leviticus 17:11
"For the life of the flesh is in the blood:
and I [GOD] have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls:
for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."

Ephesians 1:7
"[JESUS CHRIST], in whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"

Isaiah 53:5
"But he [JESUS CHRIST] was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed."

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received,
how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

Repent (turn) from trusting in anything else to save you, and repent (change your mind) about sin:

2 Corinthians 7:10
"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:
but the sorrow of the world worketh death."

Romans 2:4-5
"Or despisest thou the riches of his [GOD'S] goodness and forbearance and longsuffering;
not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath
against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;"

Acts 20:21
"Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks,
repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ."

Ephesians 1:12-13
"that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation:
in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,"

Accept through prayer the payment that Jesus Christ made for your sins by dying on the cross:

1 Corinthians 1:2
"unto the church of God which is at Corinth,
to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus,
called to be saints,
with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
both theirs and ours:"

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Believe in the Saviour to forgive your sins:

Ephesians 1:7
"[JESUS CHRIST], In whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"

Ephesians 1:13
"[JESUS CHRIST], In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation:
in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,"

What is repentance?

I made a stamp on this:……
"God requires that in order to be saved one must truly repent (Acts 17:30; 2 Peter 3:9). The word means "a change of mind" and there must be that concerning God, sin and salvation. Men think that sin does not really separate them from God--they must change their mind about that. Men think that salvation is by works--they must change their mind about that. There is nothing more evident today than the absence of repentance among those who are professing to be converted."

More on repentance, from:
You "must trust in [Jesus Christ] and Him alone [for salvation]. If [you] try to add anything (good works, baptism, church membership, etc.) to Christ's payment then [you are] saying to God that His Son's sacrificial death and blood shed on the cross was not sufficient to pay for [your] sin."

Repentance is the opposite of self-righteousness.
If you think you're a "pretty good person", and that that will be good enough to get you into Heaven, you haven't truly repented.
When we repent, we see ourselves as God sees us: rotten, filthy, corrupt sinners.
Only when we realize how hopeless we are can we turn to God for salvation.
How do I know I've truly been saved? Are there any after-effects to look for?

2 Corinthians 13:5
"Examine yourselves,
whether ye be in the faith;
prove your own selves.
Know ye not your own selves,
how that Jesus Christ is in you,
except ye be reprobates?"

Luke 6:44-45
"For every tree is known by his own fruit.
For of thorns men do not gather figs,
nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good;
and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil:
for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."

Since we must repent before God will save us, that change of mind, along with God's Spirit living inside of us, will produce changes in our life.

2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore if any man be in Christ,
he is a new creature:
old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new."

It might not happen automatically, and it might not be very noticeable at first, but as you grow in your walk with Jesus Christ, you will notice certain changes:

*You will start to hate sins you used to love.

Romans 12:9
"Let love be without dissimulation.
Abhor that which is evil;
cleave to that which is good."

*You will start to love the righteousness you used to not care about.

Galatians 5:22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law."

Ephesians 5:9
"(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; )"

*You will start to love and respect Jesus more and more.

Ephesians 6:24
"Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity."

1 Corinthians 16:22
"If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha."

Is this works salvation?
No. These are the results of true salvation, not things you have to do to earn salvation.

What are some more evidences that I'm truly saved?
One of the best evidences that you repented (and believed) in the past is that you are continuing in repentance (and belief) today.
You're hating sin more and more, you're loving righteousness more and more, and God is conforming you more and more into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:29-30
"For whom he did foreknow,
he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."

Also, if you are a true child of God, then He will punish you when you fall into sin.

Hebrews 12:6-8
"for whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth,
and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
If ye endure chastening,
God dealeth with you as with sons;
for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
But if ye be without chastisement,
whereof all are partakers,
then are ye bastards, and not sons."

Chastening can come in the form of guilty feelings, unpleasant circumstances, loss of peace, relationship fractures, or any number of negative consequences for choosing sin. Sometimes, the chastening of the Lord can be physical illness or even death (1 Corinthians 11:30).

Here's a very detailed breakdown that explains why Jesus had to die for our sins:…

And here's a very good video presentation of the gospel, that also explains repentance:…

If you go to the 22:44 minute mark on this video, the guy goes into a really really good discussion on true repentance salvation:…

Romans 3:3-4
"For what if some did not believe?
shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar..."

Stripping everything down, the very root of our Christianity is the belief that Jesus died and rose to save us from our sin...... Correct? To believe this, is to be Christian.... So, since I as a Catholic believe this too, why do you not see me as a fellow Christian?
Saying that Catholics aren't Christian, is like saying that St. Paul wasn't either.....

We are all brothers and sister's in Christ. Please see this.

Question: Why do most Catholics give reverence to Mary?
